| All Foresters are also available with a SPORTSHIFT*1 4-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission. Changing exactly as you want, you can also opt for the sporty MANUAL mode which allows shifting up and down at will. Underwritten by an active torque split AWD system, torque is distributed to the front and rear wheels instantaneously to suit the conditions. This also works alongside the Vehicle Dynamics Control System when sensing lateral slipping, to give you even more control. |

| Utilising high-tolerance sensors in each wheel and throughout the Forester, advanced processing technology is able to comprehensively analyse the vehicle driving conditions at any time. This data is then fed through to the transfer clutch which adjusts the torque distribution to all four wheels providing Dual-range select lever the optimum levels of grip. |
